Pundit predicts where Liverpool, Man United will finish
David Provan feels that the final two spots in the top four will be contested by Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City
David Provan believes that Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City will compete for two places in the Premier League’s top four this season.
Chelsea and Tottenham both look to have secured their spots in the top four this term, with the Blues currently four points clear of second-placed Spurs in the race for the title and four games left to play.
However, the other two Champions League qualification spots look far less secure, with Manchester City and Liverpool currently occupying them but Manchester United and Arsenal close behind.
However, Provan feels that Arsenal are now out of the race for a top-four finish following their 2-0 loss to Tottenham last weekend.
And he feels that the final two spots will come down to a straight shootout between Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Provan told Sky Sports News HQ: “I think it’s going to be two from three – Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs. Two from that three to finish top four.
“If you were to offer that run-in to Jurgen Klopp I don’t think he could have any complaints. But they’ve got to go and do it.
“You’re never quite sure which Liverpool side is going to turn up these days. We all expected them to take care of Crystal Palace but they came unstuck.
“Much of it comes down to nerves at this stage of the season. They’re going to have to keep their nerve.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash against Celta Vigo on Thursday night, knowing that winning the competition this year will guarantee their spot in next season’s Champions League.
