Jamie Carragher sends warning to Liverpool ahead of Middlesbrough clash
The former Liverpool defender warns Jurgen Klopp that Middlesbrough will still prove tricky opponents on the final day of the season
Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool that Middlesbrough will still prove difficult opponents on the final day of the season at Anfield.
Liverpool were under pressure to secure three points after Arsenal were 4-1 winners against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s men gave their top-four prospects a massive boost after a 4-0 win against West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Goals from Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi restored Liverpool’s four-point lead over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool have won their last four Premier League games on the road to keep their top-four bid alive in recent months.
The Reds have failed to win their last three games at Anfield following stalemates with Bournemouth and Southampton plus a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
Liverpool will secure a top-four finish if Klopp’s side manage to beat Middlesbrough on the final day of the season at Anfield.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Liverpool’s home clash against relegated Boro, former defender Carragher said: “There is still another game to go.
“Liverpool should get through that even though they’ve had top four struggles.”
