Alan Curbishley is tipping Liverpool to beat Middlesbrough in front of a nervous Anfield crowd in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds head into the game with their fate in their own hands and knowing that victory over the relegated Boro at Anfield will guarantee their place in next season’s Champions League via a top-four finish.

Arsenal are currently a point behind the Reds and will be hoping to capitalise on any slip-up from Liverpool by beating Everton at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

Former Charlton manager Curbishley is expecting to see Liverpool claim all three points but believes it will be a nervy atmosphere at Anfield on Sunday.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning, Curbishley said: “It’s been a nervy Anfield. They need three points but I’d rather be in their shoes than Arsenal.

“You’d have thought on paper Liverpool beating Boro is a done thing.”

Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League last season and without a trophy.
