Michael Owen makes prediction about Man United summer signings
Michael Owen says Manchester United will have to be careful not to stunt Marcus Rashford's development with their summer signings
Michael Owen is expecting a “fascinating” summer transfer window at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have disappointed in the Premier League and are currently in sixth place in the top-flight table heading into the final week of the season.
However, Jose Mourinho’s men have won the EFL Cup and could still secure Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League this season.
Mourinho is bound to already be thinking about which players he would like to sign at Old Trafford to bolster his team ahead of next season.
Owen feels that Manchester United will have to make a choice about signing the right attacking player so as not to hamper Marcus Rashford’s development at Old Trafford.
Speaking on BT Sport, Owen said: “I think it will be a fascinating summer transfer window for Manchester United.
“With Zlatan Ibrahimovic injured, no one knows whether he is staying another season or not and Wayne Rooney, too.
“Rashford is the main boy at the moment. Do Manchester United go and buy someone and almost stunt his growth in the team?
“Or do they make him the Manchester United centre-forward for the long run. Is he good enough to be that? That’s a question.”
Manchester United take on Tottenham at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils take on Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm on 24 May.
