Antonio Valencia has thanked Jose Mourinho for his support this season and has vowed to help Manchester United end the season on a high.

Mourinho recently praised the Ecuador international as “simply the best right-back you can have” following his sparkling displays for Manchester United this season.

Valencia has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United team this season and has made 28 Premier League appearances for Mourinho’s men.

The 31-year-old has earned plenty of praise for his performances this term as he bids to help Manchester United qualify for next season’s Champions League.

And the right-back has vowed to repay Mourinho for his faith by helping the Red Devils enjoy a successful end to the season.

Valencia told a news conference on Wednesday: “I only have words of thanks to Mourinho for those words.

“I don’t consider myself the best, I just want to work hard for the team but he’s given me the confidence to do that, not only me but the rest of the team.

“I hope to give some of that trust back to Mourinho.”
