Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that the secret to his success as a footballer is his work-ethic as Manchester United prepare to take on Tottenham on Sunday.

The Armenian has become one of the Red Devils’ most consistent performers in the second half of the season following a slow start to life at Old Trafford after his move last summer.

Mkhitaryan joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund last summer and has scored four goals and made one assist in 22 Premier League games so far this season.

The 28-year-old will be hoping to feature when the Red Devils take on Tottenham in their next Premier League game at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

And Mkhitaryan has given an insight into the mentality which has helped him achieve success in his career.

“It doesn’t matter how much ability and skills you are born with,” Mkhitaryan told Inside United.

“The most important thing is you have to use them and, to use them, you have to work very hard.

“So, if you work very hard, your talent is going to be an incredible strength for you.

“However, if you have the talent and ability and skills but don’t work very hard, you will not become anything.”

Tottenham, who are second in the table, head into Sunday’s game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 1-0 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium last week.
