Jose Mourinho has admitted that he will be “more than happy” with his first season at Manchester United if the Red Devils win the Europa League.

The Red Devils secured their place in the Europa League final on Thursday night thanks to a nervy 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo at Old Trafford to wrap up a 2-1 aggregate win.

Manchester United look likely to miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, with the Red Devils currently sixth in the table heading into this weekend’s games.

Mourinho’s side will secure qualification for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League this season.

The Red Devils will take on Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm at the end of the month.

It has not been an easy first season for Mourinho at Manchester United following his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s permanent successor last summer.

However, the Portuguese coach insists that he will be delighted with how things have panned out for him if the Red Devils win the Europa League this season, to add the trophy to the EFL Cup.

“I am more than happy, more than happy if we win the Europa League,” Mourinho told BT Sport.

“It was so difficult, so hard for me this season, so if we manage to do that it will be amazing.”
