Juan Mata sends message to Man United fans about Jose Mourinho
Juan Mata insists that he never had a problem with Jose Mourinho during his time at Chelsea
Juan Mata has insisted that he never had a problem with Jose Mourinho and nothing has changed in their relationship at Manchester United.
Mata was deemed to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea by Mourinho and was sold to Manchester United back in January 2014 amid reports of a falling-out between the pair.
However, the Spanish playmaker has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United first team since Mourinho’s appointment at Old Trafford last summer.
And the former Chelsea midfielder insists that his relationship with Mourinho has always been a good one.
Asked what’s changed between now and his time at Chelsea, Mata told El Pais, as quoted by Metro: “The context, the club, the squad and the way of playing have all changed.
“I’ve never had a bad relationship with him. We’ve never had a discussion. Our relationship is normal.
“It was simply that, at Chelsea, he wanted to play in a certain way and at United there are other types of players more in accordance with my characteristics. We’re both the same, we haven’t changed.”
Mata will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Sunday with a crunch clash against Arsenal at The Emirates.
The 29-year-old has made 22 Premier League appearances this season, scoring six goals and making three assists in the top flight for Mourinho’s men.
