Man United agree deal to make 25-year-old their first summer signing – report
Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement to sign James Rodriguez this summer, say reports
Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement to make Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez their first summer signing, according to reports in Colombia.
Colombian radio station RCN – as quoted by Metro – is reporting that the Red Devils now have an agreement in place to bring Rodriguez to Old Trafford this summer.
The same story claims that Rodriguez and his agent Jorge Mendes met with Madrid president Florentino Perez to discuss the Colombian’s unhappiness at his lack of playing time at the Bernabeu this season.
It is also claimed that it was made clear that Rodriguez has a pre-agreement in place to join Manchester United in the summer.
The 25-year-old Rodriguez has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Real Madrid team this season and has only started 12 La Liga games for Los Blancos.
Manchester United are likely to want to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window as Jose Mourinho looks to steer the Red Devils into next season’s Champions League by beating Ajax to the Europa League title in Stockholm on 24 May.
