Ander Herrera sends ‘crucial’ message to Man United fans about Celta Vigo clash
The Manchester United midfielder insists Jose Mourinho's side will be fresh for the second leg of their semi-final against Celta Vigo
Ander Herrera has reassured Manchester United fans that Jose Mourinho’s squad will be fresh for their clash against Celta Vigo on Thursday night.
The Red Devils were 1-0 winners in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final last week thanks to Marcus Rashford’s free-kick in Spain.
Mourinho fielded a weakened side in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday after goals from Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck at The Emirates.
Manchester United have three days to recover before Celta Vigo travel to Old Trafford for the second leg of their Europa League semi-final.
And Spain international Herrera revealed that the Manchester United squad have been refueling ahead of their crunch European clash.
“Physically, you try to take care of yourself and try to rest when you have time to do it properly. Eat good and just behave as a professional and be ready for every game,” Herrera told the club’s website.
“It’s not so easy when you have to play every three to four days and we are doing that because we are playing a final and a final and a final. We want to have a successful season and this is a crucial moment of the season.”
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table and five points behind Liverpool in third place.
The Red Devils can qualify for next season’s Champions League competition if Manchester United win the Europa League trophy.
Mourinho’s side have beaten Saint-Etienne, FC Rostov and Anderlecht in the knockout stage so far.
