Charlie Nicholas states his prediction for Man United v Celta Vigo
The former Arsenal midfielder is backing Manchester United to beat Celta Vigo in the Europa League on Thursday night
Charlie Nicholas is backing Manchester United to ease to a comfortable win against Celta Vigo on Thursday night.
The Red Devils will be looking to return to winning ways after a surprise 2-0 loss to bitter rivals Arsenal in north London on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United were 1-0 winners against the La Liga outfit in the first leg of their semi-final last week thanks to Marcus Rashford’s winner.
Jose Mourinho’s side are now outsiders to finish in the top four following their emphatic defeat at the hands of Arsene Wenger’s men.
However, Manchester United can qualify for next season’s Champions League if the Red Devils win the Europa League trophy this term.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Manchester United’s clash against Celta Vigo, former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is confident that the Red Devils will secure their place in the final.
“He now has the pressure on him because he’s the one who has put the eggs in this Europa League basket, although he’ll probably get the last laugh with two trophies from a team that has not been very impressive,” Nicholas said.
“They’ll have to be more adventurous here because the Old Trafford fans demand that, especially after he did his new friend Arsene Wenger a big favour!
“They’ll bring Marcus Rashford back to add his pace to Antony Martial’s and they’ll be able to be patient and pick Celta Vigo off on the counter-attack.”
Manchester United are looking to win the Europa League trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
The Red Devils appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager in 2016.
