Mesut Ozil sends stern message to his Arsenal critics
Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil insists that he pays no attention to his critics
Mesut Ozil has insisted that he pays no attention to his critics and is simply focused on performing for Arsenal.
The German playmaker is widely regarded as one of the most talented attacking players in the Premier League but is often criticised for his inconsistent displays for Arsenal.
Ozil has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal first team since his arrival at The Emirates from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.
However, both he and his Arsenal team-mates have struggled to find consistent form in recent weeks, with the Gunners currently outside of the top-four places in the Premier League.
The World Cup winner says he doesn’t think about the criticism aimed his way and is instead simply focused on hitting top gear for Arsenal.
Ozil told Sky Sports News HQ: “The expectations are always high, which I guess is normally a positive, you could say.
“But I know what I can do and it doesn’t affect me really. I’ve played for Real Madrid, I’ve played for Germany and I’ve had praise and criticism throughout my career and it’s only made me stronger.
“For me what’s most important, as I’ve always said, is the manager’s opinion because when it comes from him you know it’s the truth, be it positive or be it negative.
“There’s some people that like me and some people that don’t, but I give no worth to those opinions, really.
“They can have them, but I know what I can do. My stats show that I do give my all and I give my best.”
Ozil will be expecting to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action on Saturday evening with a trip to Stoke City.
