Nathan Ake sends message to Chelsea fans: This was a challenge
Nathan Ake believes he has learnt a lot from this season at both Chelsea and Bournemouth
Nathan Ake believes that he has matured both on and off the pitch during an eventful season for the Chelsea defender.
The 22-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan to Bournemouth and impressed in the heart of Eddie Howe’s defence.
The young defender was then recalled back to Chelsea by manager Antonio Conte back in January and has since made a handful of appearances for the west London side.
Ake has shown maturity beyond his years in his performances for the west London side this term and the defender believes he has learnt a lot this season.
Ake told Chelsea’s website: “At Bournemouth it was all about playing games. I played centre-back and I hadn’t done that in the Premier League before. I really enjoyed it because they are a good team who play good football.
“When I came back here it was a different challenge, playing with top players, fighting for the title and playing in the FA Cup semi-final.
“It’s been a really good season to look back on and I’ve learnt a lot on the pitch, as well as becoming more mature off the pitch, it’s been really good.”
Ake will be hoping to help Chelsea clinch a domestic double this season when they take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the end of the month.
The Blues will lift the Premier League trophy in front of their home fans when they host Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
