Rio Ferdinand reacts to Marcus Rashford’s goal in Man United’s 1-0 win at Celta Vigo
The Manchester United legend has his say on Marcus Rashford's winner in Celta Vigo on Thursday night
Rio Ferdinand hailed Marcus Rashford as Manchester United’s “man of the moment” after the teenager’s stunning free-kick goal sealed a 1-0 win at Celta Vigo.
The 19-year-old was named in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up ahead of Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney and France international Anthony Martial in Spain.
Rashford was denied in the first half following a fine save from the Celta Vigo goalkeeper, before the teenage striker miscued an effort in the second half after tormenting the home side’s defence.
Manchester United finally made the breakthrough in the 67th minute thanks to Rashford’s stunning free-kick after the England international won the set-piece for the visitors.
Ferdinand, who was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s side that won the Champions League in 2008, took to Twitter to hail Rashford’s brilliant winner at Celta Vigo.

Manchester United have never won the Europa League.
Rashford has scored two goals in nine appearances in Europe’s second tier competition this term.
The teenager has netted five times in the Premier League this term.
