Paul Merson states his prediction for Stoke v Arsenal
The Arsenal legend is backing Arsene Wenger's side to ease to a 3-1 win at Stoke City on Saturday
Paul Merson is confident that Arsenal will ease to a comfortable win against Stoke City on Saturday evening.
The Gunners have given their slim top-four hopes a boost over the past week with successive Premier League victories to put the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City.
Arsenal were 2-0 winners against bitter rivals Manchester United last weekend courtesy of goals from Danny Welbeck and Granit Xhaka at the Emirates Stadium.
The north London side made it back-to-back wins on Wednesday night following a 2-0 victory at Southampton as Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud got on the score-sheet.
Arsenal will face another mid-table club at the weekend when the Gunners make the trip to Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Writing in his Sky Sports column, Merson explained why he believes Arsene Wenger’s side won’t put a foot wrong against the Potters at The Britannia.
“It’s a nice game for Arsenal, they need a win and I expect them to do just that,” Merson told Sky Sports.
Merson added: “Stoke are another side to have switched off and it’s hard to see them getting a result here. Arsenal have still got the FA Cup as well but top four should still be their priority.”
Arsenal will take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
