Gary Neville sends message to Tottenham and Liverpool fans
Gary Neville delivers his verdict on how he feels both Tottenham and Liverpool have been performing this season
Gary Neville has claimed that both Tottenham and Liverpool have been punching above their weight in the Premier League table this season.
Spurs have been Chelsea’s closest challengers for the title in recent weeks but their slip-up against West Ham United last week has allowed the Blues to move to within a whisker of winning the trophy.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are third in the table behind Chelsea and Tottenham as they look to secure Champions League qualification in Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge at the club.
Both teams are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League and former Manchester United defender Neville feels that they are at the “maximum” of where they should be with their current squads.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville said: “Tottenham and Liverpool are probably at the very maximum of where they should be.
“I wouldn’t say they’re over-achieving but they’re doing everything they could do against the other teams and with the budgets they’ve got.”
Chelsea, who finished 10th in the table last season, will be crowned Premier League champions if they beat West Brom at The Hawthorns on Friday night.
