Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Tottenham v Man United
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Tottenham's crunch clash with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon
Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham to beat Manchester United 2-1 at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs head into the game after the disappointment of their 1-0 defeat by West Ham United last week at the London Stadium.
Tottenham have been in superb form this season and have been Chelsea’s closest challengers for the Premier League title.
Manchester United, meanwhile, head into the game on the back of their nerve-wracking aggregate win over Celta Vigo in the Europa League on Thursday night as Jose Mourinho’s men booked their place in the final thanks to a 1-1 draw with the Spanish side at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League and their hopes of finishing in the top four are looking slim.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Tottenham’s defeat and performance at West Ham was a disappointing end to their title hopes but I think we have seen enough from them this season to expect a response, especially at home where they have won 16 and drawn two of their 18 league games so far.”
Sunday’s clash will be the last ever Premier League game at White Hart Lane before Spurs move into their new stadium.
