Eden Hazard sends message to Chelsea fans about next season
Eden Hazard warns his Chelsea team-mates that they must keep their level up next season
Eden Hazard has warned his Chelsea team-mates that they must keep performing at the top level next season.
The Blues enjoyed a successful first campaign under Antonio Conte last term as they won the Premier League title following the Italian’s appointment last summer.
Their turnaround was made all the more remarkable by the fact that Chelsea had slumped to a 10th-placed finish in the Premier League in the season before, following Jose Mourinho’s sacking in December 2015.
Hazard is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and the Belgian recently underwent surgery to correct the problem, which he suffered in training with his national team.
The 26-year-old could miss the start of the new campaign as a result but Hazard is clearly focused on making sure Chelsea build on their successful campaign next term.
“Hopefully next year it is the same, we win the league and then I win Player of the Year!” Hazard told Chelsea magazine.
“Obviously winning the league is what we want most, and this award is just a bonus.
“We started this season well and we won the league but next year we have to work as hard as we have this season. We have to be ready every year at the same level to stay at the top.”
Chelsea missed out on the chance to make it a domestic double in Conte’s first campaign when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup final last month at Wembley.
The Blues will make a return to the Champions League next term after their successful debut campaign under their new manager.
