The Gunners boss finally ended the speculation about his future by putting pen to paper on a new deal with the north London side to keep him at the club until the summer of 2019.
Wenger’s situation has been a relentless source of speculation in recent weeks but the Frenchman has now committed to the club for another two years at least.
The confirmation of the deal came four days after Wenger led Arsenal to their third FA Cup trophy in four years.
However, the Gunners missed out on a top-four finish in the Premier League and will have to make do with Europa League football next season.
Wenger’s situation has split opinion amongst Arsenal fans but the manager is now calling on the Gunners supporters to get behind him and his team.
“The message to the fans is in aid of the club,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “Let’s be together to support our players, to support the club and all give our absolute best to be at the level that we want to be.
“We can move up to the next level, I’m convinced of that, by having faith in the way we want to play football and by supporting the players we have already.
“Of course we’ll try to strengthen our squad to be strong next season, but we want to be faithful to the way we want to play the game. We want to support this way [of playing] all together.”
