Alexis Sanchez is almost certain to leave Arsenal this summer, according to Serie A expert James Horncastle.

The Gunners forward’s future has been a source of constant speculation throughout the 2016-17 season after he failed to agree a contract extension.

Arsenal signed Sanchez in a £35m deal back in the 2014 summer transfer window but the Chile international has only won the FA Cup twice during that spell.

The South American forward has been linked with a move to Premier League champions Chelsea in the summer.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Serie A champions Juventus have also been linked with a move to sign Sanchez.

Wenger committed his future to Arsenal last week to extend his reign until 2019, despite failing to win the Premier League since 2003-04.

Speaking to The Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast, Serie A expert Horncastle said:

“I think Sanchez is almost certain to go. Sanchez is making a point that he doesn’t believe in the Arsenal project.

“He doesn’t see them competing and wants to leave to win a trophy.”
