Man United urged to sign 28-year-old winger this summer
Rene Meulensteen has backed Manchester United's pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic this summer
Ivan Perisic would provide Manchester United with a greater goal threat, according to Rene Meulensteen.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign the Croatia international in the summer transfer window.
Perisic is thought to be interested in a switch to Manchester United this summer after Inter Milan appointed a new manager.
The Croatian winger scored 11 times and made eight assists in 36 appearances in Serie A last term.
Former Manchester United assistant manager Meulensteen has backed Jose Mourinho’s bid to sign the 28-year-old winger.
“Perisic is comfortable on the ball and he’s a creator. He can beat a man and has a fantastic pass,” Meulensteen told 888sport.
“It’s important that United have a man who can open up defences with one pass and he has that. He can offer them another level of a goal threat.”
Manchester United secured their return to the Champions League last term after the Red Devils were 2-0 winners against Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final last month.
Mourinho also led Manchester United to win the Community Shield and the EFL Cup in his first season in charge of the 20-time English champions.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table after a disappointing top-flight campaign.
