Man United told to sign 18-year-old to ‘shake up’ Jose Mourinho’s attack
Rene Meulensteen wants to see Manchester United to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window
Manchester United should sign Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe to shake up Jose Mourinho’s attack, according to Rene Meulensteen.
The France international has emerged as one of Europe’s most-exciting prospects over the past 12 months thanks to his electric performances in the Champions League.
Mbappe scored six times in nine appearances in the Champions League to help Monaco reach the semi-finals before a 4-2 aggregate loss to Serie A giants Juventus.
The teenager did finish the 2016-17 season as a Ligue 1 winner after scoring 16 times in 27 games in a breakthrough campaign.
Manchester United were linked with a move to sign the 18-year-old earlier this year but Jose Mourinho appears to have switched his focus to Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata.
However, former Manchester United assistant manager Meulensteen wants to see the Red Devils cement their interest in Mbappe.
“I like many of the players United have been linked to. Perisic has good experience and pace and could come in and create things,” Meulensteen told 888sport.
“I really like Mbappe. That would be brilliant though I don’t know how genuine the interest is.
“But if they were to get him they’d have pace, goal-scoring opportunities; he would shake up United’s front-line. He has unbelievable potential in my opinion.”
Manchester United secured a return to the Champions League last term thanks to the Red Devils’ 2-0 win against Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final.
