Manchester United remain “keen” on signing Nemanja Matic from Chelsea this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is claiming that the Red Devils are still eager to bring the Serbia international to Old Trafford – and that their pursuit of the midfielder could be boosted by the fact that he is keen on a “fresh challenge”.

The Red Devils are believed to be on the lookout for a number of signings this summer after having wrapped up the capture of defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica last week.

Matic’s future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks after he was used in a rotation system with fellow midfielder Cesc Fabregas by Antonio Conte at Chelsea last season.

The 28-year-old was largely preferred ahead of Fabregas and started 30 games last season for the Blues.

Matic, of course, knows Jose Mourinho well, after having worked under the Portuguese coach during his second spell in charge at Chelsea and winning the EFL Cup and Premier League together.

Still, it remains to be seen whether the Blues would be willing to sell to a direct Premier League rival this summer.
