Insider explains why Alexis Sanchez has a huge reason to stay at Arsenal
Alexis Sanchez could profit by staying at Arsenal for another season, according to Tancredi Palmeri
Alexis Sanchez has a huge reason to stay at Arsenal – because of the huge finacial rewards that could await him next summer, according to Tancredi Palmeri.
The Chile international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation this summer after both he and Mesut Ozil entered into the final 12 months of their contracts at The Emirates.
Sanchez’s future continues to be a source of debate as he has given little indication about whether he plans to sign a new deal at the club.
Arsenal could make Sanchez stay at the club this summer but would then risk losing him for free next year after his contract expires.
And Italian journalist Palmeri thinks that the financial incentives that could be on offer next summer for Sanchez could convince him to stay at The Emirates for next season.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Express, Palmeri said: “Alexis Sanchez and Arsene Wenger are like two bulls clashing heads with each other.
“Alexis wants Champions League football now but if Arsenal are saying he’s staying put, there’s nothing he can do.
“But he has a reason to stay. He has one big reason that can persuade him to stay put.
“If he gives up his fight with Wenger, that will lead to unbelievable financial rewards next year.
“If he wanted €12m (£10.6m) in wages now, next year he will be able to claim those wages. What’s more, he’d get a huge signing-on fee that Man City would be willing to pay.
“It wouldn’t just be them, either. Juventus, Inter, Milan and Paris St-Germain would all be willing to pay him that too. He’s 28 so it’s not like he’s young – he doesn’t have a lifetime to wait.
“But now, there’s a reason for him to wait. There is a reason for him to stay.
“Giving up on his arms fight could have huge reward for him financially next year.”
Sanchez is currently enjoying an extended summer holiday following his involvement in the Confederations Cup with Chile in Russia.
He is due to report back to Arsenal to begin his pre-season preparations in around 10 days.
