Robert Pires has warned Arsenal fans to be patient with new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

The striker became Arsenal’s second signing of the summer earlier this month when the Gunners tied up a club-record deal to bring him in from Lyon.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that the 26-year-old can be the man to finally fire the north London side to the Premier League title for the first time since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.

However, Lacazette is yet to get his first taste of Premier League football and may need some time to adapt to life in England.

And although former Arsenal star Pires is fully backing Lacazette to be a success at The Emirates, the ex-France star reckons it may take Lacazette some time to adapt to the rigours of English football.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Pires said: “I think he will be a success.

“He is a good striker who has scored a lot of goals with Lyon. Of course, it will be very difficult in the beginning because when you play in France and move to England it is not the same, it is very aggressive.

“Maybe he will need time for the adaptation but everyone around him is very important, especially the French connection.”

Arsenal are preparing for a season in the Europa League next term after they ended up fifth in the Premier League table last season.

The north London side will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title next term.
