Alexandre Lacazette thanks Alex Iwobi for the assist after the Arsenal signing scored on his debut in Sydney
Alexandre Lacazette dedicated an Instagram post to Alex Iwobi after the club-record signing scored his first Arsenal goal on Thursday.
The France international opened his Arsenal account in their 2-0 win against Sydney FC in their opening pre-season game in Australia.
Lacazette moved to Arsenal in a club-record £52m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon last week to eclipse the fee that the Gunners paid for World Cup winner Mesut Ozil in 2013.
However, the 26-year-old striker wasted no time leaving his mark on the north London club after Lacazette finished from close range to secure a 2-0 win in Sydney.
And the Arsenal record signing paid a special tribute to Alex Iwobi after the Nigeria international produced the assist to allow Lacazette to open his Gunners account.
Lacazette posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“1st Game 1st Goal.. Thank you @alexanderiwobi for the Assist 👌🏾👌🏾 #AL9 #ArsenalInSydney #COYG”
Arsenal have also signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League.
