Arsene Wenger sends clear message to Arsenal fans about Alexis Sanchez
Arsene Wenger once again underlines his stance that Alexis Sanchez will not be sold by Arsenal this summer
Arsene Wenger has once again reiterated his stance that Alexis Sanchez will not be sold by Arsenal this summer.
The Chile international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months because his current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2018.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are two of the teams to have been linked with moves to sign Sanchez this summer.
However, Wenger has insisted that the Gunners do not want to let Sanchez leave the club this summer, although that could mean that the north London club may lose him on a free transfer next year if he refuses to sign a new deal.
And Wenger has once again underlined his stance on the player.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Wenger said: “My mind has been made up for a while now. I think I’ve made it clear a few times that this is my stance [he will stay at Arsenal].
“Sanchez has got one year to go on his contract and we have no need to make money. He will be part of the team next year and after that I can understand it.
“We are in a strong financial situation so we want to keep our best players. Has he asked to leave? No.”
Arsenal are currently preparing for a season outside the Champions League next term after Wenger’s men finished fifth in the Premier League table.
However, the Gunners did end last season on a high by beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
