Monaco have informed Arsenal that they will have to pay £55m if they want to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Express is reporting that the north London side have been quoted a fee of £55m for the 21-year-old France international, who has been heavily linked with a move to The Emirates in recent weeks.

The same story says that Monaco are open to selling the midfielder, but only if Arsenal cough up a significant transfer fee this summer.

Arsenal are thought to be on the lookout for a number of other new signings this summer, with the Gunners having only landed Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette.

The story says that Arsenal were ready to increase their offer for Lemar up to around £45m but the new £55m asking price may prove to be a step too far.

The article claims that Lemar’s hefty price-tag now means that Arsenal could step up their attempts to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.

The Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League last season but won the FA Cup.
