Mesut Ozil has heaped praise on Sead Kolasinac after getting his first taste of playing with the new Arsenal signing in training at London Colney.

The left-back was confirmed as Arsenal’s first signing of the summer transfer window last month as Arsene Wenger moved quickly to snap him up on a free transfer from Schalke.

Kolasinac has already linked up with his new team-mates and has been training with the Gunners at London Colney before the squad jetted off to Australia for the club’s pre-season tour.

Ozil has revealed that he has already been impressed by what he has seen from the Bosnian and has also heard good things about the defender from his Germany team-mate Julian Draxler.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website, Ozil said: “I’ve spoken to a few players who have played with him at Schalke, like Draxler.

“They said to me that Sead is a really good player with a character that will fit our team.

“What I’ve seen of him on the training pitch so far is that he’s very strong, but character-wise he seems to be a really nice guy. We’re happy to have him in our team.”

Arsenal confirmed their second signing of the summer last Wednesday when they tied up a club-record deal to bring Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette to the club.

The Gunners will be hoping to mount a serious title challenge next season after finishing in a disappointing fifth place last term.
