Arsenal in talks to make top 21-year-old their third signing, claims insider
Talks between Arsenal and Monaco about Thomas Lemar are ongoing, according to Dharmesh Sheth
Arsenal remain in talks with Monaco about the possibility of signing Thomas Lemar this summer, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports News reporter is claiming that the north London side are still hoping to secure the signature of the 21-year-old France star, despite the Ligue 1 club’s insistence that he is not for sale.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Lemar throughout the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger looks to secure his third signing ahead of next season.
Now, reporter Sheth says Arsenal remain very much interested in trying to bring Lemar to The Emirates before the close of the summer transfer window.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on Friday evening, Sheth said: “Despite Monaco’s insistence that he stays at the club, we understand Arsenal maintain a keen interest in the player.
“It’s thought talks between the clubs continue.
“Monaco’s not for sale stance has been seen in some quarters as a way to encourage Arsenal to make a higher offer.
“Perhaps we haven’t heard the last of Thomas Lemar in this window.”
Arsenal have made two signings so far this summer after having completed deals to land Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette.
The north London side are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to improve on their fifth-placed finish last term.
