Arsenal will have to cough up £50m to sign top 26-year-old attacker – report
Arsenal have been told that Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez will cost £50m this summer, according to reports
Arsenal will have to offer £50m to complete a deal to sign Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, according to reports in England.
The Sun is reporting that Mahrez’s hopes of securing a summer move are starting to diminish despite the Algeria international’s appetite for a new challenge.
The Leicester owners are refusing to budge on their £50m valuation with Arsenal thought to be interested in signing the former PFA player of the year winner.
According to the same report, Arsenal have prioritised signing AS Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar ahead of Mahrez as Arsene Wenger looks to improve his attacking options.
Mahrez struggled to maintain his high standards last term as the Leicester attacker struggled like most of his Foxes team-mates under Claudio Ranieri before Craig Shakespeare’s appointment.
The Algeria star scored 17 times and made 11 assists in Leicester’s title-winning season as Mahrez excelled alongside Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kante.
Mahrez was linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona and FA Cup winners Arsenal last summer but the attacking midfielder opted to commit to Leicester for another season.
