Arsenal will target 26-year-old star as Thomas Lemar alternative – report
Arsenal will turn to Riyad Mahrez if a move to sign Thomas Lemar fails to materialise, according to reports
Arsenal will turn to Riyad Mahrez if Arsene Wenger can’t get a deal over the line for Thomas Lemar, according to reports in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that Arsenal might struggle to reach an agreement with AS Monaco given the French club’s inflated asking price.
The same article states that the Gunners will switch their focus to the Leicester City midfielder as an alternative to Lemar.
Mahrez endured a frustrating second season at the King Power Stadium despite being a key figure in their surprise title success in 2015-16.
The Algeria international scored 17 goals and made 11 assists in their title-winning campaign to earn the PFA player of the year award.
Arsenal have already signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga side Schalke 04 last month.
The Gunners broke the club record transfer fee to bring in Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in a £52m deal earlier in July.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season but managed to win the FA Cup to end the season on a positive note.
