Chelsea hand Arsenal setback in attempt to sign 21-year-old attacker – report
Arsenal have been told AS Monaco won't sell any more players, including Thomas Lemar, once Tiemoue Bakayoko's move to Chelsea goes through, according to reports
Arsenal are unlikely to sign Thomas Lemar this summer as AS Monaco prepare to end their summer sale once Tiemoue Bakayoko’s move to Chelsea is complete, according to reports in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Bakayoko is on the brink of a move to the Premier League champions less than a month after Manchester City signed Bernardo Silva from the French title holders.
The same article states that Monaco would be willing to sell Benjamin Mendy to the Citizens if Manchester City are willing to pay more than Kyle Walker’s £54m price tag.
However, the story reveals that the Ligue 1 side are hoping to keep Lemar after offering the attacking midfielder a new contract to deter further interest from the north London side.
Indeed, AS Monaco won’t the 21-year-old to remain at the club for another season to develop his talents before a securing a big-money move later in his career.
Arsenal spent a club-record £52m deal to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Ligue 1 side Lyon last week to bolster their attacking options.
