Arsenal have made a new and improved offer to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco, says Kaveh Solhekol
Arsenal have made an improved £40m bid to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco this summer, according to journalist Kaveh Solhekol.
The Sky Sports News HQ reporter took to Twitter on Thursday evening to quote reports in France claiming that Arsenal have increased their bid for Lemar to £40m, after having had a first offer of around £30m turned down.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for France international Lemar over the last few weeks as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his midfield options at The Emirates.
Solhekol wrote on Twitter on Thursday: “L’Equipe: Arsenal have made new improved £40m bid for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar. First offer was £30m.”
Arsenal confirmed their second signing of the summer on Wednesday afternoon when they tied up a deal to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
The Gunners had previously landed left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke as Wenger looks to transform his team into genuine Premier League title challengers next season.
Arsenal will have to make do without Champions League football next season after they ended up fifth in the Premier League table last term.
