Chelsea boss Antonio Conte feels ‘betrayed’ by new Man United signing – report
Antonio Conte feels betrayed by Romelu Lukaku's decision to move to Manchester United ahead of Chelsea, according to reports
Antonio Conte feels betrayed by Romelu Lukaku after the striker opted to move to Manchester United ahead of Chelsea this summer, according to reports.
The Times is reporting that Conte has forgiven the Premier League champions for their failure to sign the 24-year-old striker in spite of previous speculation suggesting that the Chelsea boss could quit over transfer saga.
The same article states that Conte is unhappy with Belgium international Lukaku and his agent Mino Raiola for a perceived betrayal after Manchester United announced that a deal has been reached to sign the powerful striker on Saturday morning.
According to the same story, Chelsea were unwilling to meet Raiola’s agent fee, which the English champions believe prompted Lukaku to make Manchester United his first-choice destination in the summer transfer window.
Jose Mourinho sold Lukaku to Everton from Chelsea in a £27m deal in the 2014 summer transfer window during his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian forward scored 53 times in 110 games during a four-season stay at Goodison Park to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s most-prolific players.
