Antonio Conte has told Chelsea fans that he is fully expecting Alvaro Morata to have a big impact in the Premier League next season.

The Spanish forward became the west London club’s fourth signing of the summer last week when he signed a five-year contract with the Blues to join from Real Madrid.

Morata will be expected to be one of the first names on the team sheet for Chelsea next season, with Diego Costa expected to leave the club this summer.

The 24-year-old has experience of playing in Spain and Italy but has never tasted the rigours of English football.

Nevertheless, Conte is tipping the Spanish forward to be a big hit in a Chelsea shirt next season as he gears up for his first campaign in England.

Speaking at a news conference on Monday morning, Conte said: “Morata is, I think, a young player but [he has] a lot of experience.

“He played for two big teams, he played games in [the] Champions League.

“I think he can have a good impact in the Premier League. Morata is ready to have a good impact in Premier League.”

Chelsea are looking to defend their Premier League title next season while also preparing for a return to the Champions League after missing out last term.

The west London club won 30 Premier League games on their way to the title in Conte’s first campaign in charge.
