Cesc Fabregas sends message to fans about Chelsea legend
Cesc Fabregas admits that he was not a fan of John Terry during his days playing for Arsenal
Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he disliked John Terry during his days playing for Arsenal but says he always had respect for the former Chelsea captain.
The veteran defender called time on his glittering Chelsea career at the end of last season as he brought the curtain down on an amazing stint at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas played alongside Terry after joining Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and won two Premier League titles with the defender.
However, the 30-year-old midfielder admits that he was not at all a fan of the defender during his eight years playing for Arsenal.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Terry said: “I think it [last season] was maybe the most difficult season for him, for a lot of reasons.
“He showed to be before a great man and then a great player. He showed he will always be a great captain for this team and I have to tell him a big, big, big thanks.
“He is the type of player that I had many battles with. I disliked him very much at some point playing for Arsenal, we had a lot of confrontations, but one thing I always had for him was respect.”
Chelsea are currently preparing to kick of the defence of their Premier League title after winning the trophy in Antonio Conte’s first campaign at the club.
The Blues are also gearing up for a return to the Champions League after they missed out on a place in Europe’s elite club competition last season.
