Alvaro Morata sends message to Chelsea fans about Antonio Conte
The new Chelsea signing is excited about the prospect of working with Antonio Conte after the pair missed each other at Juventus
Alvaro Morata believes he was destined to work with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
The Spain international completed a £58m summer move to the Premier League champions from La Liga side Real Madrid.
Morata was Chelsea’s fourth summer signing as the Blues boss finally strengthened his attacking options ahead of the new season.
Conte masterminded a move to sign the 24-year-old during his spell in charge at Juventus but the Italian coach left the club just before Morata sealed his summer switch.
The Spain international returned to Real Madrid from Juventus in a £29m deal but Morata struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane’s team in the 2016-17 season.
And Morata admitted that he is excited about the prospect of working with Conte at Stamford Bridge.
“I know Antonio wanted me in the past and I really want to work with Antonio, and finally destiny put us together,” Morata told Chelsea’s website.
“I can’t wait to play for him and for Chelsea and to win together.
“It was disappointing in 2014 when he went to Italy, but I played well and had a good year at Juventus, but I really want to work with this coach and finally I can.
“I know his work, the staff. I know it is a lot of tactics and I really like this game and I know how to play with this system.”
Chelsea finished seven points clear of their closest title rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League title race last season.
The west London side lost 2-1 to bitter rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
The Blues have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Morata in the summer transfer window so far.
