Gary Cahill sends message to Chelsea fans about Alvaro Morata
Gary Cahill is backing Alvaro Morata to be a big hit at Chelsea after his move from Real Madrid was confirmed this week
Gary Cahill is backing Alvaro Morata to be a big success at Chelsea following his arrival at the club from Real Madrid this week.
The 24-year-old forward is set to be confirmed as the west London club’s fourth recruit of the summer transfer window as Antonio Conte prepares for his second season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Morata was heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United for much of the summer but has ended up at Chelsea after the Red Devils moved quickly to bring in striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
The Spaniard will be expected to fill the boots of Diego Costa, who is set to leave Chelsea this summer.
And Chelsea defender Cahill is expecting big things from the former Real Madrid star for the Blues next season.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Cahill said: “We’ve added a fantastic striker, he’s very experienced even though he’s at a young age.
“He’s played in the Champions League and won a lot already in a short space of time, we’re very excited we’ve signed such a huge player.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming him into the squad and hopefully he can score a lot of goals this season and be very important for us.”
Chelsea are gearing up for a return to the Champions League next season after they won the Premier League title in Conte’s first campaign in charge.
The Blues, however, did miss out on a chance to win a domestic double when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup final back in May.
