Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is not bothered by Chelsea’s transfer business after the Blues confirmed a deal to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid this week.

Chelsea confirmed on Wednesday evening that they had reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign the 24-year-old striker.

The Blues had been linked with a move to sign Morata after Manchester United secured the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Everton last week.

Manchester United had also been heavily linked with a move for Morata throughout the summer transfer window but Chelsea is set to be the Spaniard’s new club.

Mourinho was quizzed about the situation during a news conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday night but he insisted that he was not bothered about Chelsea’s business, insisting that it was always obvious that the Blues would sign a new striker.

Speaking at a news conference in LA, Mourinho said: “I’m not interested in what Chelsea does, really.

“With Chelsea it was obvious they were going to sign a striker after the situation with the manager and Diego (Costa).

“We needed a striker, so yes, we needed one even with Zlatan in his best conditions, we needed one to give cover, give options.

“Him (Ibrahimovic) and Marcus was not enough, especially after the injury.

“But we got a big player, a player that I can’t compare with what he was a few years ago, because he worked with me for a few months and his development was very good.”

Manchester United have signed two players so far this summer – defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and Lukaku from Everton, as Mourinho prepares for his second season at the club.
