Carlo Ancelotti sends message to Chelsea fans about Alvaro Morata
The former Chelsea boss delivers a glowing verdict on the club's fourth summer signing Alvaro Morata
Carlo Ancelotti has backed new Chelsea signing Alvaro Morata to be a success at Stamford Bridge.
The Spain international completed a reported £58m move to the Premier League champions from Champions League holders Real Madrid last week.
Morata endured a frustrating 2016-17 season after the centre-forward return to The Bernabeu in a £29m deal from Serie A giants Juventus but struggled to secure a regular starting spot in the Madrid side.
Indeed, manager Zinedine Zidane handed Morata less than 30 minutes of knockout football in the Champions League despite los Blancos winning the competition for a twelfth time.
Ancelotti had Morata in his ranks during his first season in the Spanish capital and Morata scored eight times in 36 games before the striker was sold to Juventus in 2015.
Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti, who is currently in charge of Bayern Munich, will have given Blues fans plenty of reasons to be excited with a glowing review of their fourth summer signing.
“He is a fantastic striker and young too. Chelsea have a made a good signing,” Ancelotti is quoted as saying by Metro.
“He can help the team to be better. He is a complete striker. At Real Madrid, he played as a central striker, on the side sometimes and in all attacking positions.
“He is a really good signing. He can work a lot for the team also.”
Chelsea have also signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger and AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in the summer transfer window so far.
