Winger responds directly to Chelsea transfer reports
Antonio Candreva plays down the speculation linking him with a possible move to Chelsea this summer
Antonio Candreva has admitted that he is flattered by the speculation linking him with a possible transfer to Chelsea this summer but insists that there is nothing concrete in the reports.
The 30-year-old winger has emerged as a reported transfer target for the west London club in recent days as Antonio Conte looks to further bolster his squad ahead of next season.
The English champions have already wrapped up deals to sign Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Willy Caballero this summer as Conte prepares for his second season at the club.
Inter Milan star Candreva has been touted as a possible target for the Blues, but the player himself insists that he is unaware of any official interest.
Candreva is quoted as saying by Metro: “I’m proud to wear this shirt, I’ve bought into an important project here and I’m happy to be here.
“This jersey has an important history, which is honoured every time I wear it.
“The links with Chelsea are nice, but there’s been absolutely nothing to date. The club will take care of any bids that may come in.”
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their squad as the west London side prepare for a return to the Champions League after their title triumph last season.
The Blues finished top of the table but missed out on a domestic double when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
