Cesc Fabregas sends message to Alvaro Morata after Chelsea move
Cesc Fabregas says he has always had a good understanding with new Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata
Cesc Fabregas has warned Alvaro Morata that he will have to face the challenge of being the top striker at Chelsea next season.
The Spanish forward became the Blues’ fourth signing of the summer last week when he finally put the pen to paper on a five-year contract with the west London side after agreeing his move from Real Madrid.
Morata was heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United during the summer but he ended up moving to Chelsea after the Red Devils opted to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
Fabregas knows Morata well, having played with the former Juventus striker for the Spanish national team.
And the 30-year-old midfielder says that he has always had a good understanding with the striker.
Fabregas is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “When you are the main striker for Chelsea you need to fight for all the competitions and if you are going to fight for all competitions you need your strikers to score lots of goals.
“That’s why I’m saying they are taking this challenge and they will be under pressure.
“When you’re the striker of a top team this is what you live with and they will have to cope with it.
“I’ve always had a good understanding with him (Morata) to be honest.
“He’s always been a striker with a little bit of everything. He has a lot of potential, the same as Michy Batshuayi to improve. It’s up to them how far they want to go.”
Chelsea are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season after they won the Premier League title in Antonio Conte’s first full season in charge at the club.
The west London side missed out on the chance to win a domestic double, however, when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup final in May.
