Eden Hazard has taken to Instagram to tell Chelsea fans that his cast is off as the Blues star begins his “lonely journey” to match fitness.

The Chelsea number 10 broke his ankle during a training session with the Belgium national team at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Hazard returned to London to undergo an operation on his ankle before starting his rehabilitation process ahead of the new Premier League season.

The west London side relied heavily on Hazard as the Blues forward scored 15 goals in their title-winning season under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

And Chelsea supporters will be relieved to see Hazard hitting the treadmill to begin his long road to recovery.

Hazard posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption: “A good week, my cast is off, now the lonely journey to full fitness! #cfc #hardwork”

Chelsea finished seven points clear of their closest challengers Tottenham Hotspur in the title race last season.

Hazard won his second Premier League title since the winger moved to the west London side from Lille in 2012.

The Blues have signed Manchester City reserve goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko so far this summer.
