N’Golo Kante has lifted the lid on his excitement at the prospect of playing in the Champions League for the first time next season.

The France international moved to Chelsea in a £30m deal from 2015-16 title winners Leicester City following Antonio Conte’s appointment as their new manager.

Kante helped to transform the Chelsea side and was named the PFA player of the year after helping the west London side to win the top-flight crown in Conte’s first season in charge.

Indeed, the 25-year-old holding midfielder became one of the few players to win the Premier League title in successive seasons with different top-flight clubs.

Kante will get his first taste of Champions League football next term after he opted to move to Chelsea from Leicester despite the Foxes having qualified for Europe’s premier club competition last summer.

Speaking to the club’s website about the prospect of playing in Europe next season, Kante revealed that he is relishing the challenge.

“I am looking forward to this competition,” Kante said.

“Until now I’ve just been looking at it on TV. I’m happy to have this chance.”

Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after finishing seven points clear of their closest title rivals.
