Report reveals latest update on Chelsea’s bid to sign top 24-year-old striker
Chelsea are refusing to be dragged into a bidding war for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, say reports
Chelsea are refusing to be dragged into a bidding war for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that the Blues will not pay over the odds to try and sign the 24-year-old striker, amid claims that the west London side are set to face fresh competition from AC Milan for Morata’s signature this summer.
The same report suggests that the west London club’s stance is likely to “infuriate” Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who has already seen his side miss out on Romelu Lukaku after the striker signed for Manchester United last week.
The story says that Morata is next on Conte’s transfer wish-list but the striker is now also interested in a possible transfer to AC Milan this summer.
Chelsea completed their third signing of the summer on Saturday when they tied up a deal to bring midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to the club from Monaco.
The Blues are likely to want to further bolster their squad before the close of the transfer window as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
