Chelsea will battle with Manchester City for the signature of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this week, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Express is reporting that the Blues are set to ramp up their chase of the 23-year-old midfielder as they look to make their fifth signing of the summer.

The same story says that Liverpool were being linked with the midfielder but it is now seen as a straight shootout with Manchester City for the capture of the midfielder.

The article states that Oxlade-Chamberlain has been offered a deal worth around £100,000 a week to stay at The Emirates but he is not planning to sign it.

The same story says that Chelsea are also now set to ramp up their efforts to get Diego Costa off their wage bill after he was informed that he has no future at the club.

The Blues completed their fourth signing of the summer on Friday when they tied up a deal to land Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

Chelsea finished top of the table last term and will make a return to the Champions League next season.
