Manager replies when asked if Chelsea are signing 30-year-old this summer
Luciano Spalletti insists that Chelsea will not be signing Antonio Candreva from Inter Milan this summer
Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has ruled out the possibility of Antonio Candreva leaving the club to sign for Chelsea this summer.
The 30-year-old Italy international has been touted as a possible transfer target for the Blues in recent days as Antonio Conte looks to further strengthen his squad ahead of his second campaign in charge.
The Blues are thought to be keen on signing Candreva as Conte looks to enhance his attacking options at Stamford Bridge ahead of the west London side’s return to the Champions League next season.
However, Spalletti has now issued an emphatic answer about Candreva’s future by insisting that the Italian will not be put up for sale this summer.
Asked if Candreva could join Chelsea this summer, Spalletti is quoted as saying by ESPN: “Absolutely not. We intend to keep Candreva. Even if we had to sell him, it would be difficult because we are short of wingers.”
Chelsea have made four signings so far this summer as the west London side prepare for their second season under Conte next term.
The Blues won the Premier League title in Conte’s first campaign in charge at the club last season but missed out on the FA Cup when they were beaten by Arsenal in the final.
