Chelsea could sign 18-year-old recommended by Drogba – report
Chelsea have been alerted to the development of Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla by club legend Didier Drogba, say reports
Chelsea are weighing up a possible transfer move to sign Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla from Montreal Impact after being recommended the teenager by club legend Didier Drogba, according to reports in the British media.
ESPN is claiming that Drogba has highlighted the 18-year-old as a possible target for the west London side as Antonio Conte searches for further reinforcements this summer.
Drogba worked with the midfielder during his time at the MLS outfit and the player is now said to be on the radar of the west London club at the recommendation of their former forward.
The winger was born in the Ivory Coast but has represented Canada at youth level, and is also said to have attracted interest from both Lille and Red Bull Salzburg.
He scored on his first MLS start for Montreal Impact in April – and has made 17 appearances so far this season.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for further reinforcements this summer despite having already tied up deals for four new players.
The Blues have landed Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero so far ahead of next season.
