Chelsea join race to make 18-year-old their fifth signing – report
Chelsea have joined the race to sign defender Malang Sarr from Nice this summer, say reports
Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing young Nice defender Malang Sarr this summer, according to reports in the British media.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Blues are vying for the 18-year-old centre-half’s signature along with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer.
The same story states that the teenager has a £36m (€40m) release clause in his contract with the French club.
Sarr is a French Under-21 international and played 31 times for Nice last term to help them finish third in Ligue 1.
Chelsea are thought to be on the lookout for further defensive reinforcements this summer despite the arrival of Antonio Rudiger from Roma earlier this month.
Antonio Conte has seen both John Terry and Nathan Ake leave the club since the end of last season and the Italian coach will be keen to bolster his rearguard options ahead of his team’s return to the Champions League next season.
Chelsea confirmed Alvaro Morata as their fourth summer signing on Friday night as the Spanish striker signed a five-year contract with the Blues.
